In the past 100 years we have experienced many global economic downturns, including both the Great Depression (1929) and the Great Recession (2009), in 2020 we are now arguably entering yet another global economic downturn. How libraries have adapted to support their users during times of economic downturns is the key focus of this literature review. The value of libraries during these times reflects the integral role libraries play in the wider education and economic infrastructures. |
