LIANZA is seeking nominations for our next president-elect and an elected national member by Thursday April 18, 2024.
He karanga ki ngā kaiarataki katoa. Kei te reri koe ki te whai i tētahi tūranga kaiarataki ki roto i te rāngai Wharepukapuka me te pārongo?
We urge you to consider joining the LIANZA Council as the next president-elect.
A strength of LIANZA is the ‘three P’s team’- past president, president, and president-elect leading our association over a three-year period. A new president-elect is sought to join Ivy Guo (Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington) who will become president alongside the current president Richy Misilei (Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Council), who starts his role as immediate past president in July.
The three presidents work closely together. They have many leadership opportunities, representing LIANZA at hui, forums, and conferences and working alongside national and international stakeholders. Our presidents lead the council, engage with members, and drive the strategic direction of the association.

We invite you to consider the fantastic opportunity available to you. Here are just a few reasons why this mahi is worth considering:
- you get to network and connect with other professionals from across the library and information sector
- you have a chance to influence and take part in key sector initiatives
- you will contribute to putting our new strategic directions and vision into action
- you will have support from a great LIANZA office team who are committed to helping you succeed
- and it looks great on your CV.
If that’s not enough – you will work with an engaged team who are passionate about LIANZA and the library and information sector. Besides Ivy Guo and Richy Misilei this team includes Stephen Pennruscoe (national council member), Troy Tuhou (appointed council member), Neda Zdravkovic (national council member), Jo Cocker (national council member) and Denise Wilson (appointed member).
“Having worked with the LIANZA Council since last July, I've seen the incredible legacy it carries - a legacy of leadership, community building, and empowerment. It is also clear that our sectors are facing challenges such as digital transformation, funding constraints, and evolving community needs. But together, we can make a real difference. I hope you consider the opportunity to join the council sharing your passion, your perspectives, and your innovative ideas to preserve our past and shape our future.” - Ivy Guo |
