ASIAN PACIFIC COPYRIGHT ASSOCIATION (APCA)

6/5/2019

Did you know that LIANZA is an official member of APCA? This entitles LIANZA members to attend regular seminars and panel discussions on topical issues relating to copyright. APCA also runs a yearly conference and the conference fee is reduced for LIANZA members. The APCA conference this year will be held in Wellington, at Victoria University of Wellington, on 11–12 November. More information about APCA is available on their website.

Sarah Powell, LIANZA Standing Committee on Copyright acting chair, says:
APCA is a great association to join. I am very much hoping to attend this year’s conference since it is in Wellington, New Zealand. I have spoken at one APCA seminar, and attended a recent seminar here at AUT. They are always very interesting and cover all types of copyright topics, and also patents & indigenous knowledge.

APCA conference 2019 Call for Abstracts
This year’s theme is: Copyright Enforcement, Remedies and the Practices of Civil Society
This topic is intended to encompass a broad range of perspectives. Examples include (but are not limited to) issues around:
 •            damages awarded in particular contexts;
•             community practices and perceptions of copyright laws;
•             the public interest in copyright enforcement; and
•             institutional risk-averse practices versus legal compliance.

The APCA Executive Committee invites you to submit an abstract of your proposed presentation (max. 300 words), including the author’s name, title and affiliation. Scholars of all levels of experience are invited to submit proposals. We will strive to achieve diversity of representation across the Asian Pacific in the selection process.
Please send your abstract to Dr Lida Ayoubi at lida.ayoubi@aut.ac.nz, by no later than 1 September 2019.
Notification of the outcome of the selection process will be on a rolling basis, but no later than 30 September 2019.
