PUBLIC LIBRARIES OF NEW ZEALAND

Public Libraries of New Zealand, The Association of Public Library Managers, was formed in 2007. They are the peak body for the public library sector. Their members deliver services in more than 300 locations across New Zealand; making sure New Zealanders can all access outstanding libraries that enhance their communities.

Public Libraries of New Zealand's main focus over the last 12 months has been the refresh of their strategy which should be released in 2017. They have also been active in advocating for libraries as part of the solution to the digital divide and exploring the development of a national summer reading programme in partnership with the New Zealand Book Council.

With 82% of New Zealanders accessing public library services, libraries are a vital part of our community infrastructure. However, service, size and diversity impact on the library offerings in different communities. Public libraries range from Australasia's largest public library service in Auckland, through to small single location district library services.
